I've stayed a number of times at the campsite just outside Portree (bTorvaig/b?) - great site with excellent views, exposed enough to avoid midges, lovely grass and superb toilets/showers... And cheaper than Slighachan b.../b The Sligachan bHotel/b is good, the campsite fair, but its over popular. The campsite at Uig is okay, but its more ferry stop over for the outer hebrides. "The munros are a bit scarey" - you may want to explore them with an experienced guide. b.../b
